Violence Victims Expand Business, Mission
Organization’s Move Vibrant, Councilman Says

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For years, there’s been a push to clean up Charlotte Avenue and redevelop some of the empty spaces. Work has began on the new west police precinct at the site of the old Ford dealership, and now another company is moving into one of the abandoned building, thanks to a generous donation.
Thistle Farms is a not-for-profit business run by the women of Magdalene House who have survived lives of violence, prostitution and addiction — perfect, the company feels, in this transitional neighborhood.
The addicts and violence victims are working their way up in life through residential programs at Magdalene House, and their job at Thistle Farms — making, packaging and selling lotions, room sprays and candles — supports both programs.
