Nashville officer charged with 4 counts of rape
NASHVILLE (AP) — A Metro Nashville Police officer faces charges of rape and official misconduct after four women said he had sexual contact with them while on duty.
According to a news release from the police, decommissioned officer Jeffrey Poole surrendered himself at police headquarters Friday afternoon after a grand jury indictment.
The 39-year-old faces four counts of rape, four counts of official misconduct, two counts of sexual battery, one count of patronizing prostitution and one count of attempting to patronize prostitution.
An investigation by sex crimes detectives began at the end of April when a 27-year-old prostitute reported that Poole had fondled her while supposedly patting her down.
Detectives then interviewed three other women who said Poole had sexual contact with them in 2009 when he was an on-duty uniformed patrolman.
