NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A decommissioned Metro police officer has been charged with several sex crimes involving four women while on duty.
Officer Jeffrey Poole surrendered himself at police headquarters Friday afternoon after a 12-count grand jury indictment. He was charged with four counts of rape, four counts of official misconduct, two counts of sexual battery, one count of patronizing prostitution, and one count of attempting to patronize prostitution.
The investigation began at the end of April when a 27-year-old known prostitute reported that Poole, in uniform and on-duty as South Precinct patrolman, stopped her as she walked the streets south of downtown. She told officers that Poole patted her down to the point of fondling her and that he appeared to make verbal propositions, but she said she rejected his advances.

Alleged prostitute and patron arrested
A Clarksville woman who has been charged with prostitution several times was arrested Thursday along with one of her patrons.
Candice Reither was observed by policeat approximately 4:10 p.m. Thursday, getting into a white truck, according to a CPD report.
Reither allegedly told police she and Donald James Vanness, were going to get a drink and have sexual intercourse. She said she and Vanness had engaged in intercourse numerous times and he always paid her $20 on each occasion, the report stated.

Candice Cassie Reither, 20, who gave a 206 Walker Street address, was charged with prostitution. Her bond was set at $2,500.
Donald James Vanness, 43, who gave a Hopkinsville address, was charged with solicitation of a prostitute. His bond was set at $250.

Bradley was at the council meeting to publicly protest Baker’s proposal, which called for closing entirely an alleyway perpendicular to 44th Avenue North, near Indiana Avenue, in the West Nashville neighborhood known as The Nations. “The deeper we dig the more that we find that the intentions are not just to close an alley, but the intention is to continue industrial throughout that part of the neighborhood,” Rick Bradley told NewsChannel 5. “And we’re fundamentally opposed to that.”
Councilman Baker insisted his motive is simple: to cleanup that part of his district, and to stop illegal activities like prostitution.

PARIS (AP) – A French judge issued preliminary charges Tuesday against soccer stars Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema for soliciting an underage prostitute – the latest setback for a national team that returned from the World Cup in disgrace and disarray.
Ribery and Benzema werequestioned Tuesday as part of a probe into a suspected network of prostitutes that operated out of a nightclub on Paris’ glitzy Champs-Elysees, a judicial official told The Associated Press. She was not authorized to be publicly named, according to office policy.
The scandal, which broke before the World Cup began June 11 and has been front-page news in France, includes allegations by a self-described escort girl who says Ribery flew her to visit him as a birthday present to himself when she was still under 18. Ribery is married with two children.

“That still is a great need,” Stoddart said. “With those kids, if they’re not adopted, we know what happens when they age out of the orphanage. They become victims of one sort or another. The girls get into prostitution and the boys into petty street crime and drugs. The number of kids who commit suicide is staggering. Here in the United States we have kids that have problems during their teen years and rebel, but there still is that family that is there as a safety net. When you get out of an orphanage at age 17 or 18, there is no family.”

Tennessee Trooper Arrested On Drug Charge

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – A Tennessee state trooper has been stripped of all powers after being arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs.
Tennesse Bureau of Investigation agents arrested 36-year-old Cesar Maldonado Monday evening at the Springfield Inn in Robertson County. He was charged with one count of delivery of a schedule II controlled substance called hydromorphone.
The trooper, who at times worked narcotics, was caught off-duty, but in full uniform and with his patrol car and K-9 unit.
“We received information he may have been using illegal prescription drugs,” said Kristin Helm with TBI.
NewsChannel 5 learned a prostitute turned confidential informant cut a deal to help detectives in the case. She met Maldonado at the motel for the drug deal.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For years, there’s been a push to clean up Charlotte Avenue and redevelop some of the empty spaces. Work has began on the new west police precinct at the site of the old Ford dealership, and now another company is moving into one of the abandoned building, thanks to a generous donation.
Thistle Farms is a not-for-profit business run by the women of Magdalene House who have survived lives of violence, prostitution and addiction — perfect, the company feels, in this transitional neighborhood.
The addicts and violence victims are working their way up in life through residential programs at Magdalene House, and their job at Thistle Farms — making, packaging and selling lotions, room sprays and candles — supports both programs.

The European economy really didn’t come back strong in the mid-80s, not near as strong as the Japanese economy, so they didn’t buy a whole bunch of vintage guitars because the Japanese outbid everybody. As well as the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum, I could not miss Stax Museum of American Soul Music, built in a replica of the old Stax Records building, where many of the planet’s greatest records were made. Investigators collected several pieces of evidence from the fire scene and shipped it to the state arson lab in Austin for testing. The results from the arson lab are expected to arrive within the next four weeks.
Nuñez said fire investigators have interviewed several witnesses including police officers, firefighters and other individuals that arrived at the scene shortly after the fire started, and that investigators have received “a lot of conflicting” information from those interviewed.
However, he added, authorities are hopeful that once the investigation is completed they will be able to determine just how the fire started.
Meanwhile, Brownsville police continue to search for the suspect accused of tossing a Molotov cocktail through a window at the Hotel Economico that set the historic building ablaze in May.
This incident was the result of an altercation between a prostitute and an unidentified man that happened prior to the fire, police said.
