Tenn. Wants Craigslist To Drop Adult Services
Attorneys General: Site Not Screening Prostitution, Child Trafficking Ads

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State attorneys general from across the country are demanding Craigslist remove its adult services section because the website cannot adequately block potentially illegal ads.
Several attorneys general announced Tuesday that they have sent a joint letter calling on the classified advertising website to get rid of its adult services category.
The attorneys general said Craigslist is not completely screening out ads that promote prostitution and child trafficking, despite a 2008 pledge by the site’s creators that they would improve their policing efforts.
Other states joining the effort are Arkansas, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

THP Officer Faces Drug, Prostitution Charges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A former Tennessee Highway Patrol officer is accused of doing drugs and spending time with a prostitute.
The TBI arrested Cesar Maldonado for crimes that allegedly took place in his squad car this past May after the historic flooding.
“They are in the community to act as role models.  That’s something they have to remember when working,” said Kristen Helm with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Prosecutors said he then had sex with a prostitute in his squad car while assigned to work flood patrol in Sumner County.

This is the second time the TBI has arrested Maldonado for drugs and official misconduct.  In July, agents arrested him at a hotel in Robertson County.  They say they found him in a room with a prostitute along with illegal prescription drugs.Tennessee Trooper Arrested On Drug Charge

Young Mom Says State Worker Raped Her
    NASHVILLE (CN) – A young mother claims she miscarried her second child after she was raped by a state employee as she sought health insurance in his hospital office. She claims the Tennessee Department of Human Services worker, Darius Willis, moonlights as a male stripper under the name “Chocolate Thunder,” and that “other male DHS employees have secondary careers as male strippers and strip together.” Willis has been criminally charged with rape, the young mom says in her federal complaint.
     The plaintiff, J.N., sued Willis and the Tennessee DHS, which she says was negligent in its hiring and supervision of Willis, and in putting him in a position of power over women in crisis.
     J.N. says she receives state benefits for her daughter, including health insurance through the state-run TennCare.

Court Hearing Continued For Former Metro Officer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The former Metro police officer accused of sexually assaulting four women was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in a Nashville courtroom, but the hearing was continued.
Jeffrey Poole was expected to enter his guilty or not guilty plea, but that did not happen.
Poole was arrested earlier this month. He was charged with four counts of rape, four counts of official misconduct, two counts of sexual battery, one count of patronizing prostitution and one count of attempting to patronize prostitution. 
In April, a 27-year-old prostitute reported that Poole patted her down to the point of fondling and made verbal suggestions. 
Detectives then located and interviewed three other women who said that Poole allegedly had sexual contact with them in 2009 when he was an on-duty uniformed patrolman in the East Precinct.

Young played well paired with Johnson, throwing for 1,879 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions for an 82.8 passer rating. He also ran 55 times for 281 yards with two TDs and led six game-winning drives with the Titans either tied or trailing in the fourth quarter.

Fellow new faces on the defensive side of the ball are defensive end Jason Babin, linebacker Will Witherspoon and cornerback Tye Hill.
The Titans also come into 2010 with several off-the-field issues hopefully behind them. One of the biggest was Young’s role in a fight at a Dallas strip club on June 13, but the quarterback was not disciplined by the NFL.

NASHVILLE — Police say Stacy Arendall was the first of four women sexually assaulted by one of their own officers. But had they taken her complaint seriously, Arendall said, she might have been the last.
Her April 2009 complaint against Officer Jeffrey Poole went uninvestigated for more than a year because police said they couldn’t reach her. Since then, three other women have come forward saying Poole paid for sex, groped them or raped them — all while on duty. Poole, who has been with the department for just two years, is being held on $200,000 bond on four counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery, four counts of official misconduct, a count of patronizing a prostitute and a count of attempting to patronize a prostitute in a school zone.
