An English teacher at Enochs High School in Modesto, Calif., was one of 40 teachers to receive a layoff notice last week. The Modesto Bee reports that some parents have complained that the teacher went to class on Friday and told her students that she would have to become a stripper and maybe sell her eggs to replace her income. That might have been okay from a biology teacher, but from an English teacher, it might have been a “poor choice of words,” admitted an official at the teacher’s association.
