Memphis, Tennessee, United States (AHN) – A Tennessee woman was sentenced late Thursday to more than 15 years in prison for forcing two minors into prostitution. The sentence marks the 11th conviction of members of a Memphis sex trafficking ring.
Cristina Andres Perfecto of Nashville was sentenced in federal court in Memphis to 190 months in prison for sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, sex trafficking of a juvenile and conspiracy. She pleaded guilty in 2007 to recruiting two Mexican girls aged 13 and 17 years to travel to the United States, promising them work as employees at a restaurant in Nashville.
Perfecto admitted she knew the girls would be coerced into prostitution in brothels in Memphis and Nashville, and that a co–defendant, Juan Mendez, had physically, verbally and sexually abused the two teenagers to force them into prostitution.
